Gerwyn Price accuses Simon Whitlock of ‘pathetic’ play in PDC world darts

• Welshman wins 4-2 but rounds on slow pace of Whitlock’s play

Gerwyn Price accused Simon Whitlock of “pathetic” slow play after the Welshman overcame a mid-match wobble to make the last eight of the PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace.

Price, the No 3 seed, defeated Whitlock 4-2 to reach the quarter-finals for the first time. The former rugby player did not find the scintillating form that enabled him to whitewash John Henderson in the previous round with an average of 105.
