Democratic delegates on Biden’s exit – and Harris’s rise: ‘We’re awestruck’

Officials say the transition is fueling new energy as they address questions over the process of choosing a new candidate

Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race and the emergence of Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee seems to have been absorbed by Democratic delegates faster than a spill in a napkin commercial.

Delegates to the Democratic national convention seem to have been poised for a pivot. In conversations since Biden’s decision, many say they’ve moved from fear to relief to a kind of euphoria almost instantly.
